Angelo “Mickey” Rojas was 23 years old when he and business partner opened Continental Salvage in Burbank, Ill., which was available after Continental Health Spa moved out. Mickey replaced “Health Spa” from the sign on the building with a “Salvage” sign he created. CONTINENTAL SALVAGE was born on December 1st, 1965!
In 1975, Continental Salvage moved to Summit, IL. Unfortunately, three years later the store burned down. The store then moved back to Burbank and after outgrowing that site, the next home for the store was 67th and Cicero in Chicago. Soon after, a nearby Toys ‘R Us store relocated and left an ideal site vacant. Continental Salvage moved in. Continental Salvage evolved into Continental Sales and made its home at 6333 S. Cicero Avenue in June 1983.
In August 2009, Continental Sales restored the phrase, “lots-4-less” which the company once used in the 80’s-early 90’s. “Lots-4-less” concisely described the discounted, valuable treasures found within the 20,000 square foot retail store. Continental Sales “lots-4-less” is a trusted source of closeout grocery products, discontinued merchandise, and salvage. In 2015, the store’s interior was remodeled to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Continental Sales “lots-4-less(SM)” is now Chicago’s premier closeout retailer. For more than 50 years, customers have come to trust us for deals they can’t find anywhere else. Since 1965, the store sells everything from food, consumables, health and beauty, and seasonal products, to furniture, housewares, toys and gifts, our merchandise selection includes famous brands and private label merchandise at deep discount prices.
